IYRS School of Technology & Trades

In partnership with IYRS School of Technology & Trades, the Newport International Boat Show is offering attendees the opportunity to learn directly from marine industry professionals through a series of hands-on 3-hour workshops.

These in-depth sessions cover practical topics that can help you better understand, maintain, and enjoy your time on the water. 

Topics include:

  • Multi-Media & Electrical Troubleshooting
  • Cable Sizing & Crimping
  • Gel Coat Repair

Each workshop includes complimentary General Admission to the show, giving you the opportunity to gain valuable boating knowledge and explore the show all in one day. Purchase your tickets online in advance as limited sessions are available.

  • Includes round-trip boat show shuttle service to the Red Parrot drop-off location
  • Approx an 8-min walk from the shuttle stop to IYRS
  • Shuttle service operates from 8AM-8PM

TECH TALKS SCHEDULE

9AM-12PM | Multi-Meters & Electrical Troubleshooting

📍IYRS Campus, Brooks Building, Marine Systems Classroom

Participants will learn the use of their Multi-Meter/DVOM, as well as troubleshoot common electrical issues on the Sim. Participants are encouraged to bring their own Multi-Meter. Max 12 students per class.

12:30PM-3:30PM | Cable Sizing & Crimping

📍IYRS Campus, Brooks Building, Marine Systems Classroom

Participants will learn the common failure causes, as well as the correct planning and sizing considerations for marine wiring and cabling. Participants will learn proper wire and cable crimping and test their work. Max 15 students per class.
