Description:

  1. How weather works: The atmosphere & principles of how clouds form; cloud types and what they mean to a mariner.
  2. Review of pressure and wind concepts.
  3. Overview of surface weather systems (lows, fronts, and troughs; highs and ridges). Warning labels, wind barbs and other surface chart symbols as depicted on Ocean Prediction Center and Tropical Prediction Center marine surface weather maps.
  4. Where to access weather information from the public domain.
