Description:

How weather works: The atmosphere & principles of how clouds form; cloud types and what they mean to a mariner.

Review of pressure and wind concepts.

Overview of surface weather systems (lows, fronts, and troughs; highs and ridges). Warning labels, wind barbs and other surface chart symbols as depicted on Ocean Prediction Center and Tropical Prediction Center marine surface weather maps.
-
Where to access weather information from the public domain.
