Lee Chesneau Marine Weather courses
Two-Half Day Course: Saturday & Sunday (Sept. 18th & 19th, Noon-4pm) - Register Early - Space Limited
This valuable course points attendees in the right direction when it
comes self reliance with weather interpretation skills! Mariners will be
introduced to some important fundamental weather concepts in preparation to
understanding surface pressure weather maps. This will be followed by probing
details as to what mariners see and what the anticipated weather forecasts are
going to based on what is depicted on the maps. This includes a wide range of
geographical areas from east and the west coastal areas nearby, as well as
offshore and well into the deep blue waters of the north Atlantic and PacificOceans. The details of surface pressure
weather map and their interpretation will clearly enhance overall weather chart
interpretation skills. There will also be an important discussion concerning
human intelligence weather forecast products as generated by the National Weather
Service (NWS), the largest of six government agents under the administration of
NOAA, versus government originated graphical & numerical weather
models(sometimes better known as GRIB files). A brief discussion of Tropical
Cyclone avoidance techniques using the 1-2-3 Rule will be reviewed, along with
local & regional weather events such as Gulf Stream North Wall episodes,
gap wind events experienced from cruising the numerous islands of the
Caribbean, the Santa Anna winds off of southern California, and Mexico’s Gulf
of Tehuantepec events. An overview of what mariners need to do toward becoming
self reliant by vessel tracking and weather forecast documentation and
verification will be presented. Finally, accessing multiple sources of weather
information vis navigating Lee Chesneau’s Homepage(http://www.marineweatherbylee.com)
will be presented. Whether you are just spending a day in Buzzards Bay, the Chesapeake
Bay, the Puget Sound, or coastal cruising off the east or west coasts…or are
planning to blue water cruise further offshore, do not miss out on this
education and training opportunity! ($175.00 total for part 1 & 2)
